Range Rover has debuted its first all-electric SUV in the UK, with prices beginning at £154,070. This new venture into electric vehicles marks a significant milestone for the company, which will start delivering the vehicles to customers by 2027. Orders are currently open for this luxury SUV, which will be assembled at the Jaguar Land Rover plant in Solihull, UK.
The Range Rover Electric is equipped with dual electric motors, delivering up to 550PS and 850Nm of torque. This power enables the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.3 seconds. Additionally, it boasts a driving range of up to 372 miles as tested under the WLTP cycle, making it a competitive option in the emerging electric vehicle market.
Central to its capabilities is a 118.5kWh battery that supports 800-volt charging technology. This allows the battery to be recharged from 10% to 80% in approximately 22 minutes when using appropriate charging conditions. This feature is designed to offer convenience and efficiency for drivers looking to minimize downtime.
The design of the Range Rover Electric maintains the brand’s signature luxury and off-road prowess, now enhanced with an electric powertrain and improved aerodynamic features. Notably, it can navigate through water up to 900mm deep, retaining its robust off-road characteristics. The vehicle has undergone extensive development and testing to ensure it meets the high standards expected from the Range Rover name.
Supporting its production, Jaguar Land Rover’s facility in Wolverhampton will supply the necessary battery packs and electric drive units.
