Breaking: France and Vietnam Strengthen Their Comprehensive Strategic Alliance

Vietnam and France have reinforced their dedication to bolstering their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, focusing on enhanced cooperation across various sectors including diplomacy, trade, defense, energy, technology, and infrastructure. This commitment was underscored during recent discussions held in Hanoi, where the two nations evaluated the progress of their bilateral relations and concurred on accelerating the implementation of their partnership action plan.

Vietnam has emphasized the need for intensified collaboration in areas such as defense, cybersecurity, nuclear energy, science and technology, critical minerals, and significant infrastructure projects. Additionally, Vietnam has urged France to expedite the ratification of the EU–Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) and to continue its support for the removal of the European Union’s “yellow card” on Vietnamese seafood exports, a crucial step for the country’s trade ambitions.

France, in turn, has acknowledged Vietnam as a vital strategic ally within the Asia-Pacific domain. The French government expressed interest in broadening cooperation with Vietnam, particularly in the fields of nuclear energy, rare earths, satellite technology, and transportation infrastructure. There is also a strong emphasis on enhancing collaborations in healthcare and cultural exchanges, which are seen as pivotal areas for mutual growth.

Both nations have pledged to enhance their coordination on regional and global matters, with a shared commitment to promoting multilateralism, dialogue, and sustainable development. This mutual understanding is expected to contribute significantly to addressing both regional and international challenges while fostering a stable and prosperous partnership.
