Erdoğan and Macron Discuss UN Leadership and Climate Summit Collaboration

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and French President Emmanuel Macron recently engaged in a telephone conversation to discuss key international issues, including the selection of the next United Nations Secretary-General and bilateral relations between their countries. During the call, Erdoğan highlighted the necessity for the UN to appoint a leader with the vision, experience, and leadership skills needed to enhance the organization’s role in global diplomacy and implement essential reforms.

This dialogue underscores the continued diplomatic engagement between Türkiye and France on matters of international governance and cooperation.

In addition to UN leadership, Erdoğan extended an invitation to Macron to attend the COP31 Leaders Summit, which Türkiye is set to host. This summit presents an opportunity for increased international collaboration on climate-related issues, reflecting both nations’ commitment to addressing environmental concerns on a global scale.

During their exchange, Macron also took the opportunity to congratulate Erdoğan on Türkiye’s Republic Day, an annual celebration held on October 29. This gesture highlighted the cordial relations between the two countries amidst their broader discussions on international diplomacy and bilateral ties.
