Saudi Arabia’s aid organization, KSrelief, has joined forces with the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office to launch a $10 million initiative aimed at enhancing food security in Yemen. This collaborative effort is designed to support at-risk communities and bolster long-term resilience across the region.
Each partner will contribute $5 million to the project, which will be executed by the UN World Food Programme. The initiative will target the Yemeni governorates of Al-Mahrah, Hadramout, Aden, Al-Dhale, and Lahij, providing conditional cash transfers to improve food access and restore productive infrastructure. The goal is to assist families in moving from emergency food aid to increased self-sufficiency.
Beyond immediate food assistance, the project encompasses vocational training and offers support to local authorities. It also aims to enhance governance and the sustainable management of community resources, thereby laying a foundation for lasting development and stability in the targeted areas.
This agreement is a part of Saudi Arabia’s extensive humanitarian outreach through KSrelief, which has undertaken more than 4,400 aid initiatives valued at over $8.5 billion across 113 countries since 2015. Such efforts underscore the kingdom’s commitment to addressing global humanitarian needs and fostering resilience in vulnerable populations.
