The 98th Academy Awards nominations were unveiled this evening by Lewis Pullman and Danielle Brooks, revealing a competitive field. Paul Thomas Anderson’s “One Battle After Another” and Ryan Coogler’s “Sinners” secured the most nominations.

Anderson’s film built upon its Golden Globes success with comprehensive recognition from Academy voters. Nominations in directing, adapted screenplay, and multiple performances highlight the film’s strengths. Technical categories also acknowledged its achievements in cinematography and sound design.

“Sinners” proved equally deserving with nominations spanning creative and technical categories. Coogler’s direction earned recognition alongside the film’s visual achievements in cinematography and production design. Strong performances from Michael B. Jordan and the supporting cast also secured acting nominations.

The nomination landscape included diverse films across all categories, from blockbusters like “Avatar: Fire and Ash” to intimate dramas like “Sentimental Value.” The variety ensures an engaging and unpredictable race. However, Neeraj Ghaywan’s “Homebound” stands as the most notable exclusion.

The Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles hosts the 98th Academy Awards on March 15. The ceremony will air at 7 p.m. ET on ABC, where nominees will learn whether their recognition translates into Oscar victories.
